The Trucchi Family

Bill Trucchi began in the supermarket industry at the age of 16, when he borrowed $500 from his immigrant parents and opened his first store on Tremont Street in Taunton. The store was the size of a small house and went by the name Hometown Stores.

Trucchi’s Discount Food Store was opened in West Bridgewater in 1962. Fortunately for William, Star Markets was selling sixty acres of land only a short distance from the old store. Shortly after acquiring this land he built a new, larger market and named it Trucchi’s Supermarket.

In 1982, at the age of 69, William Trucchi Sr. died. His hard work, dedication and accomplishments paved the way for a second generation to assume leadership in a company that was once only a dream.

William Trucchi Sr. was a true pioneer in the supermarket industry. His early vision of a distribution center supplying its own stores has allowed Trucchi’s Supermarket to flourish as the uniquely independent and successful company that it is today. Trucchi’s Supermarkets today operates 5 modern supermarkets and a distribution center with the same family pride that Bill started with almost eighty years ago.
The Trucchi family, inspired Bill’s hard work and dedication has carried on his legacy by continuing to work long hours to keep his dream alive.
